He seems to understand almost everything now and has even developed selective hearing! He loves trucks and cars but equally loves a doll that my god-daughter and niece, Alaia, has at my mum’s house. He eats almost everything and his favourite are blueberries. (For which you can get him to do anything, including tidying up his books.) He gives great hugs and kisses once he gets over a little bit of shyness and if you haven’t had one recently, we hope it isn’t long before you do.
He has blond hair which has caused a few of you to call into question his patenting, but it really is true that David had blonde hair when he was little. Most of the photo updates this year have been around Max – he is a far more interesting and desired update than us.
I must make special mention of the grandparents who have allowed us to have a very indulgent year with Max. My mum is a legend and regularly takes care of Max for us. He sleeps over and so we are totally spoilt by having the freedom to have nights out. Oma (Maryke) spent 4 days with Max and we did our first trip away alone to Port Douglas for Alex & Byron’s wedding. We missed him but it was such a relaxing time having no caring responsibility. Granddad & Mimi also visit on regular occasions from Tamworth. Keep up the good work.

Finally if we are giving special thanks for taking care of Max then my ultimate gratefulness must really be expressed to David. I was going to say he made an incredible sacrifice of taking a year off to stay with Max but I think sacrifice is the wrong word. Commitment is probably more apt – I know it was important for David to care for Max and help him grow and he is such a better boy for it. It is hard to give up your own life for the care of another and David brought great energy and creativity into his care of Max. We’ve had a few “I probably shouldn’t tell you this but…” stories but on the whole they have had a great year. He’ll venture back to work next year and I think will bring new energy to both roles.
We wish you all a very happy Christmas. Big hugs and kissed from all of us.
