Between August and December 1997, we
travelled through 5 countries in South America. Some of it we did
on bikes, and some of it we did dragging our bikes around with us.
We hope that these pages can convey to you the beauty and diversity that
caused us to love it so much.

After our one night stop-over in La Paz, we flew onto Quito where our
holiday began properly.

Our first stop was Buenos
Aires, a European city stuck in South America. A time to meet some
Italian relatives and to test our Spanish.
Our independent travel shock began as we flew into La
Paz for an over-night stop-over on our way to Quito Equador.
It's hard to imagine a better place to gain this shock!
