POST OPERATION REPORT
Weekend
Patrol of Bruges and the Ypres Salient
10
August 2002 |

CPL Dermody arrives and quickly begins attacking several pints of beer. This puts CPL Jackson on the defensive
and his response is to 'dig in' and refuse to imbue anymore. CPL Jackson then tries to fight off a couple of tiny beer glasses pushed his way. This is given short thrift from others present, particularly CPL Henderson, who goes on the attack over what is sign to be a defensive weakness on Jackson's behalf. |

Head to bed. CPL Jackson's excitement causes a neighbour across the alley to ask for 'a little more quiet.' CPL Jackson then serenades her with the Tottenham song.
We receive our first encounter with gas as the room reeks from a sewer outside. However, this allows the camouflage of the various odours that would otherwise be present in a room of four men.

|
|
Among these are those arising from CPL Dermody's refusal to go outside to use the toilet when there is
"a perfectly good sink in the room". He claims: "There are two types of people: those who piss in the sink and those who lie about it." Great fun is had with those who were foolhardy enough to leave their toothbrush
near the sink. |

Wake up and head for the square for some breakfast. CPL Dermody receives communication from his girlfriend who is in London asking for the whereabouts of the car. After trying to convince her that it is has been parked just up the road, it becomes apparent that the car has been towed away and impounded. |

Arrive car hire place |
|
| 1130 |
Leave car hire place after the most drawn out process possible. Near mutiny by Jackson
and Dermody as it becomes apparent that a small administrative activity should never be entrusted to buffoons like Henderson and Mullen. |

CPL Henderson who is responsible for navigation almost suffers his second mutiny in two hours by leading around Ieper in an attempt to find the Museum.
CPL Henderson claims CPL Jackson led him astray with a 'Museum' sign sighting that proved to be false. The
In Flanders Fields Museum turns out to be the most obvious building in the centre of
town. |
