OFFICIAL POST OPERATION REPORT

Weekend Patrol of Bruges and the Ypres Salient

9 August 2002

1700 First members of patrol met at rendezvous point: Waterloo Eurostar Terminal. News received that one member (CPL Dermody) had been waylaid by British Rail and wasn't going to make it for Departure Time. Against the odds, CPL Jackson charms a Eurostar staff member to change his ticket.
1748 Remaining 3 members leave on patrol. Take seats briefly then move forward to the refreshment car and begin taking on liquid refreshments comprising cans of Stella.

2148 Arrive Brussels. CPL Mullen twice attempts a desperate diversion to find toilets but gets confused by a lift sign (men upstairs; women downstairs?!?) and is unsuccessful. Situation looked increasingly desperate until CPL Jackson mounts a 'high risk recovery operation' to extract him.
2230 Board train to Bruges. CPL Mullen charms a Canadian girl but she reluctantly leaves the train before us.
2330 Arrive Bruges and travel to Bauhaus. Set up camp and dig in at the bar awaiting the arrival of CPL Dermody. First beer is dark, frothy and served in an enlarged wine glass.
