Council Housing
	The majority of Tower Hamlets' council housing lies within the surrounding areas of Spitalfields and Brick Lane. These areas are the main focus of certain regeneration initiatives and many properties are now in the process of either being rebuilt, refurbished or completely demolished.
The community is predominantly of Bangladeshi origin, with many families occupying local council homes. The homes appear to date from the mid 1950's onwards and therefore their facade seems quite outdated. With property prices soaring in the surrounding areas, due to the area's proximity to the city, more council homes are required to satisfy the demand for homes for lower income earners.
