Truman Brewery

The Truman Brewery finally closed its doors in the mid 1970's after brewing beer from the year 1666. Ben Truman established the Black Eagle brewery in 1724, and the Truman name remains.

Covering an area of approximately 11 acres, it is now home to numerous Internet companies, both small and large. The high profile conversion of the brewery provided incentive for entrepreneurs to set up artisan stalls, cafes and restaurants.
These facilities are boosting the new local economy and creative industries, which in turn, is attracting large numbers of visitors to the area each day.

The brewery dominates a large section of Brick Lane and despite dating as far back as mid 1600's, some of the buildings in existence today were constructed in the 18th century. Concerning architecture, the brewery is a place of certain significance and provides us with many fine original examples.
